i shorted ebay this morning when it was down 6 and was going to keep my position over the week end because i feel their market cap is ridicolous (it is bigger than qcom)but when i read the postal service news it scared the sh*# out of me ,,when this news catches it could really make the stock explode,,so i got out and got lucky and got out down 12,,,but that release is truly staggering,,,,imo ebay is still ridiculous and would think about shorting again in the 250 -260 range,,i think it could see that in the next two weeks because market sentiment is very bullish on this stock ,,,my only concern is may is usually a bad month for the markets especially the nets,,i will look to short on rnwk as they make their big announcement on monday and the stock runs ,,,the reason for the short "buy on the rumor ,,sell on the news",,maybe get 10 point pullback, and this has been the way these nets are starting to trade,,just look at aol ,,the blue chip had a terrific q and it traded down,,this imo is the bell weather for market sentiment.

The U.S. Postal service maintains a database of the sender?

US Postal Service now says 1 in 20 packages sent between private individuals in this country is an eBay purchase.

William,

This is an amazing statistic. I would like to check the source however. Not that I have any reason to doubt internet.com. In fact, I am an indirect stockholder in internet.com via Penton Media. But who at USPS made this statement? And as Doug Fowler said over on the eBay thread, if I send you a package that you buy from me on eBay, the package gives no indication that the deal was done on eBay, so how does the Post Office have any idea of eBay's deal volume. They must be guessing, Doug opines, and I am inclined to agree.
