Well I just spent a bunch of time reading through this thread and it has been quite an interesting time. Lots of ideas to ponder. Two comments for now. First,the most valuable use of this thread would be to follow the suggestion to post strategies and ideas which have enabled people to succeed in this tough enterprise. All too often this does not occur. Partly this is the case for reasons of anonymity, and partly some feel that by sharing ideas that work they will no longer work as well. Second, as far as brokers and fills go, I use Brown and Company (traderalan may still do so as well) and have been very pleased with them overall. Certainly their costs are among the lowest, but what often goes unnoticed is their executions. Thestreet.com had them come out tops in a recent poll, for example.
