Hush puppies are good also. I make them at times when I make a little too much breading. Wife doesn't care for them though.

The setting counts too. I can remember some shore lunches in Canada that were walleye sandwiches from fish caught 1/2 hour before and an ale. Then a big belch and a nap in the sun.

Meridian is my dad's hometown. There's even an old family farm there with a house that was built in 1840, that Sherman's arsonists somehow missed. One of my cousins has built a modern home around the old log structure, incorporating it into the new house.

Were you at the Naval Air Station?
