Re: manufacturing problem vs shortage of buyers

We can be pretty sure that it was a manufacturing problem because
- the quarterly report did not show any inventory stockpile
- AMD have consistently lowered prices to maintain volumes, despite the impact this had on their bottom line in the last quarter.

I suggest that Intel's increase in the low-end market share last quarter was as much a result of AMD's poor performance as Intel's good one.

Elmer where do you come up with this nonsense!

Re <<Intel say's they regained all the market share they lost in
the sub-$1000 market during Q1>>

I call BS on this. I have already explained twice, if you did not understand then, one more explanation isn't going to help.

Re <<AMD lost that share so it is just as likely that there was a shortage of buyers rather than manufacturing problems.>>

Are you for real? AMD sold more than 3 times the processors at 400 and higher in march compare to Jan and Feb combined. Where did all the new buyers come from all the sudden. There are plenty of buyers then and now.

Re<<Remember AMD stated quite clearly that they had fixed their manufacturing problems in the Q1 CC. Either they were lying then or they are lying now but either way they ARE lying,>>

This issue has been discussed many times. If you think that AMD knew exactly all the problems they were going to have and flat out lied about it, you need to stop smoking what ever it is you are smoking.

I nominate your post as one of the all time worst.
