Tony & Intel Investors - Intel's Pentium III/II/Celeron RoadMap Summary Intel's RoadMap for Pentium III lists 600 MHz devices at $791 at intro and 667 MHz Pentium III Xeons - $1000+ - at intro. Introduction date isn't given but these seem to be the 0.18 micron Coppermine version due in September. Pentium II devices are declining steeply. Celeron speeds up to 500 MHz are included as well as Pentium III Mobile devices with 6XX MHz - whatever 6XX means ! Most likeley, this refers to the Geyserville Technology where Mobile Processor Speed is faster when using an AC-DC adapter, then slows down on DC Battery only. As Intel moves to its 0.18-micron manufacturing process, the company will integrate greater amounts of on-chip cache on its mainstream microprocessors, as it already does on its Celeron chips for low-cost PCs. The smaller die size of the processor core will allow Intel to integrate a total of 256 kilobytes of cache directly onto the Pentium III and Pentium III Xeon processors designed for desktop PCs, as well as workstations and servers. At the same time, Intel will begin to add the Pentium III instructions to its mobile processor lineup. The company will apparently also fulfill its earlier pledge to increase the speed of its mobile microprocessors to match those designed for desktop PCs. Toney, I believe E-machines is a joint venture between TriGem (boxmaker) and KDS (a korean monitor maker). Who owns who is a matter of contention. As far as E-machines niche. 1. People who thought >$600 or couldn't afford afford a computer that expensive. 2. A second computer 3. A get on the net computer.
