<--OT-->eMachines-->I found out eMachine uses no name components (on top of that trailing edge technology too) and uses a disabled O/S which can not be upgraded without changing the 'drivers',heard one guy say he had to replace the modem as it came with a 8 bit card which disconnected him often from the internet (was too slow as well),he also had to buy more memory, all this at additional cost.Don't forget they offer no service as far as I know, once you buy it you are on your own.

Man,the trouble people go through for the perceived savings, funny they could have bought a Dell for a couple of hundred dollars more.Oh well what you gonna do,may be it is better this way as people who buy this cheap machine will most likely learn their lesson the hard way and begin to come to their senses and upgrade to Dell or a better machine within the year or so.

PS:I got this info from various SI threads like eTrade for example.
