Brian/Eugene/Threaders. This month three events take place within three days that will have a significant effect on the price of AMAT.

The first is AMAT's reporting of earnings.(l8th)

The second is the monthly reporting of the BTB (20th)

The third is options expiration. (21st)

My guess is that AMAT will finish the month at (61 to 64)

Earnings and BTB are probably positives while options expiration is a negative. A good earnings report will be worth 5 points spread out over two days, and a positive BTB over 1.35 will be worth another two.
Options expiration are a negative because there is a tendency not to carry positions over the weekend. (every Monday its a whole new game)

While most posters (Ian, Eugene, Brian) have been very bullish long term, I read very little of the short term prospects for this stock.

The stair case workers have not left for better opportunities, they are just working on the basement and bomb shelter levels.

So go ahead, wipe some windex on the crystal ball, stare into the fish tank, down a few alcohol enhanced refreshments and make an estimate as to where AMAT will close on the 21st of this month.

Hi Brian,

I agree but I have concluded this weekend that rising housing is being caused by rising cap gains and stock options, 2 things that aren't showing up in wage inflation. The fed will have to act or the bond market will do it first. The fed has expressed that they are worried about a real estate bubble. The stock market is causing pretty strong real estate inflation. Fed action or bond market action will cause a release of pressure from the bubble.

I am not sure what to do. I see a lot of abnormal stuff around me. We have a full blown frenzy and I am feeling bearish.I am not trying to sound smart, because I can see both sides of the argument. Still 180% invested.I have acquaintances who are retiring(under 45). Maybe I am just thrown off because some of them are a**holes and don't deserve it. The first thing I am going to do is ride out this csco pop into e, and turn some inets into equips. I believe in the inets but hate holding them away from 5 weeks before earnings.

Watch that bond market.
