Christopher, I'm not sure a filter would have the effect you expect: “The individual would be told how many people -- but not who -- had cut them off of which threads; in time they might get the picture, or quit posting on that thread.” Emile, like all other SI members, has an "In Box" and is well aware of how many people (which is to say '99.95%') disagree with his anti-Semitic views. His fervent conviction to racial cleansing keeps him from "getting the picture" and to not "quit posting". Sociopaths know society disagrees with them—they just don't care. Additionally, anybody who agrees with his views would certainly not block him. Thus, the ratio of "agreement vs. disagreement" would rise. Whilst he would certainly receive fewer messages, a much higher percentage of them would be in support of his views. The perception is then given (to him) that his views are gaining more acceptance. Given that, the time may seem ripe (to him) to implement 'Stage Two' of Emile's Fourth Reich. Fifty bux says he'll break out the Sears charge card to buy a lot more ovens. Beware the Law of Unintended Consequences. He seems to be satisfied posting on SI, thinking he's actually furthering his message for an Aryan Nation. As you can see from the reactions, he's not. So either keep him here, satisfied (the 'Fat, Dumb, and Happy' solution)—or hunt him down in his bunker.
