Cisco backbone ATM customers:

MCI/WorldCom - Expected to award a significant global contract this year, Cisco had been rumored in the lead, probably not now.

AT&T - Cisco has the frame relay network (ASND has the core ATM), again a global network design is in bidding - ASND rumored in lead w/ Cisco close second - Cisco almost certainly out now.

USWest - Cisco one of 3 vendors (NN, ASND the others) in a crazy quilt network.

Sprint - Contrary to rumors, Sprint has not placed any orders for BPX or MGX switches for the ION. NT must be laughing up a storm.

Telecom Italia - No reports on status here, but DT acquisition could change things

BT - Frame relay network. Does not appear to be well positioned here.

This is basically it. 55% of Cisco's ATM WAN sales are to large enterprises.

BTW, Ascend has been playing games with defered revenues - in the 4th quarter WAN packet was up 45% and ATM was up 50% SEQUENTIALLY. 1st quarter up only 2% sequentially, but 72% YoY with at least $50 million in WAN packet revenues deferred. Both NN and ASND are gaining share, ASND is growing a bit faster. Yeah, I know no one here will believe me.
