Hi Steve, I was out of town over the weekend and just got back last evening. I missed the VLSI news until you mentioned it. Then I hopped over to their thread finding about 50 notes to read.

Yes, sad to end such a fun story, but I guess we'll have to close the book now. Let's hope for a great sequel!

I was just telling Linda Kaplan over on the VLSI thread that being an old "retired" curmudgeon (sp?) I think I'll take the initial principle plus some of the profits and sink it into an income producer. Then the remaining after tax profits will get re-deployed somehow.

I did this a year ago with the DIGI proceeds. It turned out to be a great bit of timing as last Fall's little setback went by much more comfortably. I never really did re-invest the extra cash in anything specific, as AIM and the crumby market soaked up all the extra cash.

I guess the good news is that the VLSI buy-out is profitable for me. The bad news is that it's an "unplanned" taxable event. Well we have all year to lose some money to help off-set it!! :-)

Best regards, Tom
