Frank,

I always read your post because it is very informative.

Can you make a comparison of the Boeing and McDonalds
merger that the government did not intervene versus this
possible @Home and RR merger?

TIA

Roly

Frank, I don't think the government will bother to intervene at this stage. So the merger of RR and ATHM will provide the economics of scale and @Home branding advantage. The advantage far outweigh the risk of government interference. The government, i.e., FCC, has said clearly that they will not do anything until Cable modem becomes a actual threat to the existing ISPs. This scenario is going to take a few years to develop. Thus, the merger of RR/ATHM now will accelerate ATHM's growth and it's very positive for ATHM. A lot of people seem to magnify the risk out of proportion. Fearing too early about something that is not going to happen in the short term. ATHM/RR will not be perceived as a monopoly until they actually become one in 5 years.
