This I agree with. However I'm not convinced that T would be creating the kind of monopoly "that induces inability to change with changing external forces", regardless of what regulators may think.
T even if they won it all: Absorbed UMG and created a merger with RR they would still have very real competition for everything but cable TV service, which of course they have never had.
There are *many* forms of BB access connection over HFC cable being only one and a moderately limiting one to boot. POTS is still a very viable competitor too.
Sun makes most of the servers that run the internet. Does that make them a monopoly?

Are you familiar with Hughs Spaceway project? a GEO broadband network. Not scheduled to be done for years but they are pumping in 1.5 billion into the project. A future competitor?
