NSM to exit PC CPU biz
They are going to sell a majority interest in the Maine fab. but use it as source for 0.18 micron in partnership with buyer.
Looks like they keep Cyrix and focus on appliance market.

Gary, The buy would hurt Intel and kill its stock because the only reason IBM would buy Cyrix would be to replace Intel chips with their own designs. You do not lose the world's top computer co. as a customer without suffering. And it would kill IBM because mpcs are now a mug's game and no longer a place where they should focus.

And, though I think IBM is run by maroons, I don't think they are this dumb. Unless they are really worried about Intel's silly internet and E-Commerce strategies.
