Abbeydale:

- What are the drawbacks of using a 166MHz Puter?

Just speed of processing. You could definitely use MS on
a 166, but depending on how many scans you'd like to perform
it'll take you more time. For example, it takes my 266
approximately 2 minutes to scan 2200 securities using only
a basic filtering process. Yours might take 5-10 minutes (???).
I guess I was thinking of people who are still using P100
and lower.

- How much RAM do you need.. I have 64M?

64M - no problem.

- Can you buy it in Edmonton or is it strictly mail order?

Mail order only.

- Website addy?

equis.com

- Also, I am a real newbie to TA... is it a good tutorial or
should I study up before investing in it?

Hmmm. It depends. If you're a number cruncher at heart and
you have the money to spend then buy it. Otherwise, I think
someone new to TA would do better to read books/websites on TA
and just use a website chart to learn the basics of TA. For
example...

askresearch.com

I honestly think that those new to TA wouldn't find Metastock
all that exciting unless they were number crunchers at heart.
When you do become familiar with TA and like to look for certain
technical characteristics and start testing certain systems, then
you'll find the value in Metastock. Just my opinion.

If your looking for a T/A program to try out before buying Metastock you can purchase a copy of John Murphy's book "The Visual Investor" for 55.00 and it comes with a CD version of Wall Street Analyst charting software with some basic features although it is not the full blown version. I bought my copy at Chapters.

It's a good start for beginners like me plus you get some good info from the book.
