PLX Technology Announces Array of PCI Tools

New Reference Design, Software Development, Information Kits Simplify Design, Reduce Costs of PCI Embedded, Adapter Products

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999--PLX Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:PLXT - news) will announce at the PC Developers' Conference & Expo a broad array of development tools that simplify and reduce the costs of PCI hardware and software product development.

PLX is introducing a total of eight powerful new tools: two reference design kits (RDKs), one each for the PLX(r) PCI 9054 I/O Accelerator and IOP 480 I/O Processor chips; the latest version of PLX's software development kit (SDK), featuring support for the IOP 480 as well as popular embedded operating systems; and five CD-ROM-based reference design information and hardware documentation tools, each complementing PLX's RDK and SDK families.

In separate press releases issued today, PLX announced:

-- PLX IOP 480RDK, an RDK that provides the tools necessary for designing systems and adapter boards based on PLX's IOP 480 I/O Processor, the industry's first integrated PCI device with a 32-bit PowerPC RISC processor and featuring a 33MHz PCI bus, 60MHz local bus controller, and memory controller.

-- PLX PCI 9054RDK-LITE, a streamlined version of PLX's RDK for the PCI 9054, a PCI v2.2-compliant bus-master device and the industry's first Hot Swap Friendly PCI interface chip.

-- PCI SDK v3.0, incorporating advanced features that allow designers to quickly and easily develop advanced embedded and adapter-board PCI products with PLX's line of PCI interface chips, including the IOP 480, and popular embedded operating systems such as Microsoft's Windows(r) CE and Wind River Systems' VxWorks.

-- PCI HDK CD-ROMs, complete PCI and CompactPCI reference design information and hardware documentation, complementing PLX's PCI RDK, PCI SDK and I2O SDK tools. Each CD-ROM consolidates all the reference-design materials, such as schematics, Gerber files, bill of materials, hardware reference manual, Verilog code (where applicable), and PLX PCI chip data book.
