MK,

Unclewest is fishing for a couple of days. I think that there are others like Tenchusatsu, TigerPaw, Alan Bell, or some of the folks who have been involved in the recent technical discussions might be in a better position to answer your question. I suspect that they're going to say it's impossible to say -- there are too many variables beginning with the type of application you're running, the type of non-Rambus memory you're using, etc.

Dave

MK, like Dave said, it's hard to say. I'm sure you already know that PC's are fanning out into different market segments. Some buy PC's to play the latest Star Wars 3D games. Some buy PC's only to surf the Net and read e-mail. Some buy PC's because they need a powerful workstation in order to do stuff like multimedia, 3D animation, etc.

A Pentium III with RDRAM is likely going to be faster at some of the more complicated tasks like 3D rendering, or games with Disney-like animation. It's not likely to speed up your Netscape experience, and it's not likely that you'll notice a big difference in your word processor, either.

If you want some benchmarks with real-world systems, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the release of Intel's Camino chipset, the first to support RDRAM, before we see any benchmark results released to the public.
