Keypoint: EDIG & Lanier, use SOLID STATE memory instead of disk.
We don't know about how rugged IBM's new little disk drive is yet...
But, if it can be done with solid state memory (& it is), it's the best way to fly!

Much faster to process (access) & play (output)...
No heads to jiggle & wobble.

One could play catch with solid state devices or even drop them & they would keep on playing (as long as they wouldn't actually break, of course).

EDIG's MicroOS doesn't care what the medium is... Another super keypoint for EDIG!

Chris,

What makes you think that Iomega's Zip is not Portable. Surely 25 Million drives sold would indicate a move toward standardization, which would indicate this as a good portable media for downloading music to be used when swapping titles with friends??? Iomega also sells a 40 megabyte removable called "Clik"
