Keypoint: EDIG & Lanier, use SOLID STATE memory instead of disk. We don't know about how rugged IBM's new little disk drive is yet... But, if it can be done with solid state memory (& it is), it's the best way to fly! Much faster to process (access) & play (output)... No heads to jiggle & wobble. One could play catch with solid state devices or even drop them & they would keep on playing (as long as they wouldn't actually break, of course). EDIG's MicroOS doesn't care what the medium is... Another super keypoint for EDIG!
