I've had my 2000 for a couple of weeks now (which allowed me to finally bring up my new Celeron box.) I finally got all the fans installed:o 2 case fans above the PS blowing outo 1 case fan at the bottom front blowing ino a Glacier 4500 Celeron cooler (borrowed, to be replaced with a GlobalWin Fab-28 when the one I broke by sticking my finger in one of the fans (5000 RPM, ouch! ) is replaced.)o a Gamma 28 blower ($10 from Radio Shack) (thanks 3Fingers!) stuck to the bottom of the lower disk tray, pointing at the V3o a (ordered, but not yet received) 3dfxCool dual Voodoo cooler The net result (pending GlobalWin and 3dfxCool installation) is a reduction from the nominal 100-102F temperatures (as measured by the BH6's internal measurement) to 86-87F! This was with the Celeron running at 450/2.1, so I decided my V3 needed a little goose. It is now running at 170MHz and extensive QuakeII timedemos (crusher and massive1) at 1600x1200 have resulted in no hangs so far. Crusher comes in just under 30fps and massive1 at about 32 or so. These are very playable. My monitor at home won't do 1600x1200, so I'll probably be stuck at 1280x960. :-( Poor me! In case you can't tell, I absolutely love this card (and my new system, (and parentheses :-) .) It is my first 3dfx card and is everything I have always heard from 3dfx owners. For years I have always tried to save a nickel and been slightly behind in performance. For the next few weeks I am damn near the leading edge. I'll probably be taking this thing home within the next day or two to replace my old box and will then start loading all the little demos and screen savers and other 3dfx only things which I have always read about, but could never experience. BTW: Tom is 100% full of bull biscuits. There is no way anyone could reasonably be unhappy with the quality, stability, and speed of this card. Oh yeah, it also cost me $110, delivered to my door (next day) from Onsale. TNT2 my butt. BTW2: I expect to be able to sell this card for ~$75 when I replace it with a Rampage in a few months. BTW3: I wish SI would support unnumbered lists <ul> and would learn "Celeron" is a correctly spelled word.
