I think Armstrong is not only looking forward to it, he needs AOL right now more than AOL needs him. There are at most 0.5M cable broadband subs as compared with 17M narrowband AOL users and increasing at the rate of 1M per month. Narrowband subs can be signed up for much, much less than broadband. T is going to have to fork over a huge amount of cash to get the cable infrastructure it needs for broadband. What they need are AOL eyeballs, ecommerce customers, and ads flowing into their broadband service, whether they go in directly or through ATHM. And let's not forget that AOL will be rolling out DSL and wireless this summer, not exactly something T can ignore.
