2 points about buy and hold vs. in and out:

1) I can't understand why "buy and hold" types even hang out on these threads--seems contradictory. I suspect they've got their fingers twitching right along with the traders, or they'd be reading Vanity Fair instead of SI.

2) I'm a very novice trader, and I've made some nice profits going in and out of CMGI over the past 2 months. I never touched it until it hit 183, and I've bought as high as 244. Today I bought at 233 and expect to make 10 to 20 points tomorrow. On the other hand, if I lose 40 points tomorrow, I'll still be way ahead of the game.

Not trying to be ugly, just trying to say there's more than one way to skin a ... whatever. :)
