Mowa,

Hey thank you for your response I really appreciate it,
Okay if I get the Duel-Motherboard ASUS P2B-D will it only run with Duel processors in it, or is it functional with 1 PII orPIII Chip. Also Do you think that this board will be able to run the Faster P3 Chips down the road(like the ones in late Summer you are referring too?, can this board run P3 Chips at all??

Iam also curious how I could compare (2) PII 450's in terms of speed. Does it actully process two times faster making it a 900mhz?

Mawa, you mention adding memory to the Video sub-system, (you mean Video Memory?) Is video memory SDRAM too?? how much, at least 32megs right? who makes the top quality Video memory (Samsung?) that you would reccomend?

Also regarding the hard Drive, if I go SCSI does this affect other parts of the computer by going SCSI? (I will most likely go for the IDE IBM 700RPM you have 10.1 Gig, do you have a special fan for it?

yes I already have ADSL from PAC-BELL here in So.CA, It is AWESOME!!

Regarding Occasional Gaming, can I still play Top Quality Games, and hook up driving wheels, pedals, etc. even though I am using NT??

I really appreciate your Input and am awaiting your responses!!

thanks ALOT!!!

...Monitors, 19" CTX VL-950s or Viewsonic PS-790, Viewsonic flat panels, or if you want the best stack up 4 SGI 17" wide flat panels at $2000 each. Now this is something worth spending your money on, in a year those Xeons will be model-T's. :)

The question on the 3D is what do you want it for? Anything but gaming and you are done, the chipset and 8megs per port should do just fine. I have an older chipset and 4megs per port on my Matrox and the "Phantom Menace" looks fluid and beautiful stretched across three monitors.

If you do want gaming then this is what I have done. Get a second HD and put both in swappable enclosures, dstor.com, load NT on one drive and 95/98 on the other. When you want to play a game that doesn't run on NT swap in 95/98. For 3D games I use a Quantum Obsidian 24X sharkyextreme.com which is two Voodoo2 cards on a single board. While newer high-end cards may be just beginning to outperform this card, the Obsidian being a 3D only card, it only comes into play when running a game, and it does NOT interfere with the rest of the video system when not. Trying to balance NT, 4+ monitors, and gaming in a single system can get tricky. With this set up I can/will have up to eight monitors, great 3D games, and the crucial part, available PCI slots for other things.

A good CPU price guide, and actually the PII 400 looks like a sweet spot right now, processors are NOT the thing to to go high end on, they advance/pricedrop so quickly.

mowa,

Did you look into the Appian quad card? A reseller I talked to says that Appian has the best desktop control for multi-monitors in their HydraVision software.

HydraVision allows you to spread an app across one monitor or all monitors. They also will be adding the ability to choose which monitor an app will run on. It also has a feature that keeps an app or a dialog bow from being split between two monitors. Some of these things are demonstrated on the Appian web-site:

appiantech.com

You can get the Appian in a 8MB/channel version, not sure about AGP.
