Currently everyone has a proprietry box. And the box is based on the infrastructure of the cable plant which means that in theory TCI could have one system in one city and a different system in another city. Its takes tens of millions of dollars to equipt the head end plant. Currently it takes $250-$400 per box to equipt the house. Once your system has been started its hard to change to a differnt system. That is what make GI such a good prospect.
