No need for despair Roger

I've checked into that article, and it just indicates the ongoing struggle between the states and the feds for control of Indian gaming. Not to worry. The feds aren't going to give up their final control.

I don't think that any settlement talks will begin in earnest until the court battle is underway and the GLB finds themselves in a tight spot. Someone suggested the metaphor of a motorcyclist who runs over a pedestrian. When the cops catch up to him, he is riding a bicycle. He says to the cops, "I couldn't have done that, I'm on a bicycle." The cops say, "It doesn't matter. You were the driver of the motorbike that hit the pedestrian." It's the same with the GLB. They can't argue that they can't be held to state contract laws because they're federally recognized, (which they're not, and as Sir Bob's faks pointed out, they won't be until they get this matter cleared up), because even if they do get recognized, the fak is that they weren't recognized when they entered the agreement with Sungold.

Anyway, I don't think there'll be settlement talks until the Band begins to see the writing on the wall that they'll be forced to honour state contract laws.
