I'm hoping the $5B investment in AT&T by MSFT should send a shiver down the spines of the bankers on MSFT wanting to do anything to expand their empire. (IMHO, of course!)

A cacophony of voices must arise to call for Checkfree's spokesman, preferably Pete Kight, to get on some TV shows (preferably CNBC) to explain its pathfinder and leader position in Ebills. God forbid, that Levin guy (from TrashPoint) gets on first and says Checkfree is not a competitor in this business ("experiments"), is full of hot air or worse ("press release mill") and its activity is restricted to groveling ("low level"), and cuddling (or was it "coddling") with customers. As much as CKFR wants to stay on the high road, the low road of its competitor makes better press. In this case, it isn't just an option, but an imperative to tell the story straight before the other guy paints such an erroneous story you have to spend all your time defending the truth (remember, the correction item gets buried on page D26).
