If ATHM wants T to come to its aid, it has to do so with the understanding that T wants to gobble up the local telco market. Internet service is strictly secondary. And T has not made a lot of friends among the regulators concerning gobbling up telco service.

athm - important to remember and consider the impact of at&t on the equation here. at&t can market @home as a dsl and cable service -- @home as 'broadband' and not just internet

add in the mediaone acquisition and at&t looks like it could pose a threat to aol

which is what i saw in @home from the start, an 'aol on steroids' -- with at&t's cash flow and billing systems, reach across telco and cable @home could be huge

Political storms brewing for @Home....

Reps. Rick Boucher (D-Virginia) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Virginia) introduced measures today that would require AT&T and other cable companies to give outside ISPs access to their broadband Internet infrastructure--a rule that AT&T has said would undermine its move into cable phone and Net markets.

Gee, is anyone here surprised that it is congressmen from Virginia that want open cable access for outside ISPs? I wonder who they're refering to as outside? <VBG>
