The problem with next week's Cisco earnings report will not be their numbers, but rather what they say about future impact on their business due to Y2K.

IMO, there is a 50% chance they will warn shareholders that they do not have good visibility for the 2nd half of 1999, and probably a 15% chance they will outright warn shareholders that they can expect earnings/revenues shortfalls in the 2nd half due to Y2K. Although most everyone knows about it, most of their Fortune 1000 customers have or will have stopped buying any new products from Cisco by June 1st, 1999. This will make it difficult for Cisco to meet expectations until the 1st quarter of 2000.
