Sweden cbank says no plans to change gold level
STOCKHOLM, May 7 (Reuters) - Sweden's central bank, the Riksbank, said on Friday it had no plans to change the level of its gold reserves, after news that Britain planned to sell 125 tonnes of its gold holdings in fiscal 1999/2000.

''Our basic opinion is the same as before...there will be no change in gold policy, we don't plan any changes in our gold holdings,'' Riksbank financial controller Mats Balke told Reuters.

Balke said that the Riksbank had around 185 tonnes of gold, which amounted to about ten percent of the total value of its reserves. He said this level had not changed for the past decade.

The last weekly asset report from the Riksbank, dated April 23, showed that the central bank had around 13.8 billion crowns of its reserves in gold out of total reserves worth 133.8 billion crowns.

Yeah....we need a "renagade CB" to take on the "New World Order" CBs.....perhaps rapid buying by China and a few oil producers might do the trick if they get sick of paper.

Ron,

<<These calls for gold sales are thinly masked attempts to
maintain equilibrium in the POG and protect their fiat currency by
flooding the gold market with physical metal.>>

I agree ..... but that fact they resort to this, just reinforces how desperate they have become to continue the charade. I view this as quite bullish for gold in the medium-longer term. Presently there are only two safe havens - the US buck (looking more shaky each day) and gold.

Also - in the context of the gold market, 125 tons is bean dip.

Frankly I am surprised the gold market has help up so well - there is clearly buying going on at this level.

Eventually, for better or worse, the game players are going to lose .... playing with the gold market only delays the inevitable crunch that is coming.
