If CUBE is like my lawn mower, it'll need more than one start.
But This Time's Differentâ„¢

Hey Fred or Divit, remember the Mac G3 minitower with the Ziva chip for their DVD version? Well, I just bought a Mac G3 powerbook with DVD. I got out my farking screwdriver, tore the thing apart, and couldn't find anything that would seem to be an MPEG 2 decoder chip. The dude I bought it from (who claims to be a Mac consultant), says that it is a Sony DVD, and a Sony chip.
The only identifiable chip I could tell was a Motorola chip that was 1 inch by 1 inch, and don't know its purpose. Any thoughts on what chip might be in there? Thanks, Tim

Welcome to the Convoluted world of security analysis. I just got it from my friend at Lehman, CUBE is their #1 hot stock for their clients. Boys, these reactionary analysts are coming out of the woodwork. They have finally connected the "cable" dots. Also, a VERY good source tells me, none other than Merrill is going to initiate coverage (for the first time) with a "strong buy."

Adios twenties, Hell, adios thirties!

If a brokerage initiates coverage with a BUY or STRONG BUY (as lehman has three times now) on a stock but the market laughs in your face, the SEC allows you to drop coverage after two months and then pretend you never heard of the once-loved pick.

The analyst must then wait 30 days (like "wash" rules for traders) or for three internet IPO's to triple in value, whichever comes first, before covering the stock again. If you've been made to look foolish three or more times within two years on the same stock (eg lehman & cube) the SEC allows you a free pass for "initial coverage" rating. I think they do this so investors don't think the firm stutters, as in, "re-re-re-initiates coverage with a BUY".

That's what I heard anyway <gg>.

It means, the brokerage firm has started to cover this stock afresh or the individual who was covering is not covering it anymore and a new guy has taken over with a new report, rating etc.
