If that were relevant, no consensus could ever be reached. There was no consensus for abolition of slavery in the early 1800's. This is not to imply that I think the two issues significantly similar. I could also point out that there was no consensus for alcohol prohibition in 1900, nor a consensus for relegalization of alcohol in 1920.

I don't think that uniforms are the panacea that their promoters make them out to be. It is a very superficial conclusion based on the strong discipline and lack of troublemaking in those schools. However, it has more to do with the way those schools are administered and little to do with the fact that they wear uniforms.

These days I'm surprised by anything that doesn't produce significant litigation.
