The problems with CSCO earnings will not be in the quarter that ended, but in the quarters looking ahead. They have serious problems with their Fortune 1000 clients, and their buying freezes for network software which will or have kicked in by June 1, 1999.

As a result, CSCO will not drive DELL next week. Most likely you will see CSCO mention that they are extremely cautious for the next 2 quarters in terms of their expectations. There is probably a 50% chance they say that, and IMO a 15% chance outright that they say they expect the second half of the year to be soft.
