Pissed everyone off? How that? I may be grubby, but my carafe has thickened nicely.

No fair. I wasn't pissed at all! I just wanted to air my opinion on what constitutes education!
Well, just to even things up, I'll go read Stephen King.

It seems to me that several people here are very assertively setting forth a definition of some intellectually ideal life, but get very defensive about being called elitist, which isn't that negative a term really.
I think you all ARE elite. You ARE far better educated and more widely read than the average Joe. But you need to realize that when you make statements implying anyone not meeting YOUR standards falls short, well, you're going to be accused of snobbism.

But since I am so incredibly well-educated, having read the complete works of Carolyn Keene, and as I seldom watch TV, not even King of the Hill, which I thought was AWFUL the one time I saw it, and because I once got a A++ on an English project on Great Expectations (I painted a picture of Estelle in oils- it was NOT Michaelangelo), I am declaring myself a member of the SENDI. (Snobbish and Elite but Normal, Damn It)

I can write run-on sentences better than anyone, don't you think?
