I knew it was written by a woman, but I didn't know it was written for women. But then I rarely read introductions to books. Maybe it was mentioned in there. How awful that it is even worse in Japanese. I cannot imagine that, of course, but the thought is horrible.

nihil, is it true that all the early Japanese classics were written by women, for the simple reason that the men knew only how to write in Chinese? Or knew how to write in Japanese, but would not, because they considered their own language inferior to Chinese? I read that somewhere...
