I truly think that DSL is the future for AOL,
My ISP will be connected to the new hub soon, but in the meantime it will be ISDN.
The 17 million or so AOL subscribers OBVIOUSLY have a telephone hooked up to their modems...DSL comes over the telephone.
Wouldn't it make more sense for AOL to offer DSL than ask the subscribers to hook up to cable too?

I got my @Home installed two weeks ago. Fascinated with the video clips and star war trailer. I can now watch Bloomberg TV on the Net.
It was never possible with the slow AOL account. AOL portal is mostly text based with little or no graphics. In contrast, @Home's totally video driven. All advertising on @Home is also fun to watch. They are all motion picture powered with Enliven technology. ATHM is like Color TV and AOL is like black & White TV. I just ditched my AOL account.

Gridiron,
ATHM was connected to my house 2 business days after ordering. Orders for DSL in my region are back-ordered by about a month (in the limited areas it is available). You can't really make generalities about connect time for either technology since they are dependant upon the local service providers. Some providers are better than others.

Re ATHM's graphics and content, yep they are pretty limited. But, no one buys ATHM or DSL for the content. You are buying a fast pipe. Period.
