I find that interesting because I just ditched my Cable modem for DSL...I got fed up with speeds of about 2-5k/sec during primetime, when I was promised 10 megs/sec...anyway, now with DSL I have constant speeds of 640k/sec and am happy....since I never even came close to the promised 10+megs/sec of cable, I can only say for me, DSL is the way to go...also, I dont know why everyone thinks Cable is cheaper...it's only cheaper if you already subscribe to cable TV...since I didn't(because I'm a total internet junkie), I had to pay $99 for installation and $59.95 a month for the cable...with DSL it cost me $99 for installation, modem and network card included(billed to your local phone company over 3 months for customer convenience) and a monthly charge of $49.95 for the service...Since most people in my area have told me similar stories about their cable connections, I have come to the conclusion that cable's biggest drawback(the fact that it slows down dramatically the more people log on) will become an even bigger problem as more and more people buy the service...since DSL doesn't experience that problem, I expect AOL won't suffer in the long run as alot of people either will go DSL or switch to DSL if they experience network lockup with cable...I also want to add that I live in a big city and I know this problem may affect only users in big cities, however, the more people who get on cable, the greater this problem will get....while DSL doesn't have to worry about sharing the network...it's an independent service.

When other people in your area start connecting to AT Home you may consider Ditching your At Home !!!!! I get Bloomberg Live without Cable... Real Player G2 Gets me up and running and I don't need cable Internet access for it.. Good luck with your At home and high costs.. But do yourself a favor don't tell your neighbors to sign up and how great the service is or else you will be sorry since your access speed will decrease.... keep us posted if the area starts Joining @home....
