When do you have a NEW bear market, vs. just a steep market correction...

(When the Dow 30 breaks below the previous years low it is then a BEAR market.)

Since THIS Bull market started in 1982 the Dow 30 has NEVER broken below the low of the previous year.

In 1998 The Dow's low was around 7400.

I use a moving resistance (support) line from November 1994. This line has not been penetrated since that time and corrections have bounced off this line. Since the line is so far from where we are now, I only did a rough calculation. It appears to be at roughly 8600 on the INDU.
