Spend some money. For under $2,000 you can get a kick-ass Dell 500Mhz PIII with installed network card:

commerce.us.dell.com

and for $600 or so an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 19" flat-screen CRT monitor, Model A901HT. This model is PC Magazine's winner, has a completely flat screen and ultra-high resolution capability. I own one and I love it. You can use your current monitor as #2 on your Windows 98 system.

>>> Cruising the 'net is so much nicer at these speeds! <<<

That's why I shake my head when some people on the AOL thread say most people dont need more than 28.8.
It's like saying you dont need a color TV or saying you dont need a CD-ROM.
They simply have never used one. Thus stuff is addictive, once you use it. Pre cable modem, I would spend 3 hrs a week, tops, on the net.
Now, sometimes its as much as 20hrs/week....watching movie previews, or listening to BBC world service LIVE, via broadcast.com while cruising SI.
