June issue of Red Herring has open letter to COMS management.

The substance of the letter is to divide the company between the Palm Computing division and the networking division.

Dolfan, about non-CDMA phones in Europe: " I believe it may be the GSM protocol. Let me do
some research and I will post it. If anyone would care to answer this reply please do."

GSM is the wireless standard in Europe. GSM also has a
wide global following in China and Australia. USA has a number of different standards IS-136 TDMA, IS-95 CDMA for example.
IS-95 is also used in Korea

Japan has gone its own way too.(DCS, PHS etc)

Most of these standard support some form of Data. e.g. EDGE initiative for GSM and TDMA systems. What is lacking in the wireless data world today is a 'killer app'.

Hope this helps.
