You clearly did not read my posts very carefully. I suggested it was more rational to look for ways to screen people on the basis of what one likes- and I did not mention hating anyone at all. However, people in a free country have the right to do all manor of things that are harmful to themselves, and I would argue that to restrict that right is wrong. You have over- personalized my responses, I understand the temptation to do this, but it is not rational.

When and where do you propose we deploy the (as Frank Zappa called them) Brain Police?

Interesting point. We expect people to be held accountable for their actions, and silent contempt or contemptuous body language can certainly be an action. I punish my children for their behavior, and I have seen judges punish lawyers for acts like slamming a book down in anger or rolling their eyes.

I would like to know what constitutes "silent contempt".
