Very nice, dear, but it's only the first pass.

That's normative as all get out. Suppose we have a society whose members are by and large Catholics, and well-versed in Aristotle and Aquinas. So they pass a bunch of laws based on objective (depends on whose ox is being gored, no?) criteria. What then?

Let's take one example by way of illustration. Let us construct a Catholic libertarian who accepts your construct but also throws into his philosophical word view the concept of an immortal soul that exists at the time of conception. Such a society would be expected to pass laws against abortion based on the consistent argument that a zygote is a person with an immortal soul, and protection of the individual is supreme. So the right of the woman is subordinated to the right of the zygote based on normative philosophical premises.

[I am not a Catholic, but I am more than superficially familiar with Catholicism and am struck by the rock-solid logic upon which much of the theology is based. My problems are with its premises (but that's another argument).]

CTC

"A society that places the individual and the rational mind as supreme and backs it with only OBJECTIVE laws."

How will we get the four billion irrational minds to obey us?...... precision bombing maybe?
