I am speculating, but I feel that there may be a possibility that Trail is going to make a final offer for the shares in Mond and that could be why the stock is rising. The share price was down for so long in the 30 and 40 cent range, that a cheap offer for the rest of the shares could be made. They already picked up more than half the company for 50 cents, so I wouldn't expect an offer to be much more than what the CEO and CFO got for their shares.

This quarter's results could have been a last ditch effort to reduce shareholder value to the point where the company is easily taken over, and shareholders wouldn't gripe so much since the company has a negligible or negative book value. Ridiculous for the company to have lost as much as they did because of "lost" inventory--was it "lost" to Trailmobile. This matter should be checked into more. Unless it is raw materials being stolen, then due to the nature of their business it would be hard to have "lost" that much inventory.

As you mentioned though, it could be a turn around. Investors could also see this last result as an improvement if one time charges were removed. The loss without the charges is around 1.5 million which would have been an improvement over 1997. This could have peaked some interest. All remains to be seen and I'm staying tunes.

Also, maybe Trail's brokerage thought that these bad results would send the stock plummeting, and they could pick up some cheap shares. They could have inadvertently caused an unexpected demand for the stock under limited supply.
