Thread, last night I went over some of the tech chat on this board to find that there is enough misinformation and vague representations to choke a horse. It wouldn't be a concern of mine, ordinarily, since some of the material is just good-natured banter laced with omissions and other misdemeanors inflicted upon the mind.

Some of it is misplaced speculation, while some of it is well-intentioned, albeit erroneous, information that was presented with the noble purpose of enlightenment.

The danger here is that newbies and aspiring wanna-knows may look at some of this information (much of it stated in very convincing and authoritative tone), now and into the future, and regard it as sound. Indeed, much of it is, but in places some of it is nothing more than hooey, or worse, misguiding.

At the very least some of this stuff would be considered noise that would be detrimental to one's ongoing learning processes, if they were looking here for solid direction. One of the dangers of Internet discussion boards is that there is no authoritative review board to oversee the integrity of the material that is imprinted on servers for posterity.

I'm tempted to debunk or otherwise qualify each of the posts which are flawed from a technological perspective, and request the webmistress provide me with editing rights, in order to prevent what I consider would be a travesty and disservice to future readers of this archive. Admittedly, I'd be most concerned with those which were in third-party reply to issues I've raised here myself... from the associative liability angle.

In so doing, I would first contact the individual(s) and obtain permission to install the errata measures.

Does anyone see the merit to my taking such measures, or shall I simply enumerate where it is that I see the need for triage? Or simply drop the issue altogether, since the latest sentiments voiced by some here is that all of this stuff isn't important, anyway.

Or, perhaps this subject matter should all be ported over to the Last Mile thread, where there are sufficient numbers of qualified eyeballs to nip the infractions in the bud in a more timely manner. Comments welcome.
