Re: "Why hold a stock?" It appears to me that you're suggesting the equivalent of farmers either sowing or reaping, without giving the crop the chance to grow. This analyst uses the words as they are defined in English: Buy means accumulate it, Hold means retain it, Avoid means don't buy if you don't have it and consider selling it if you do. Strong Buy? in my sytem, that's when the potential appreciation to the 12-month target is more than 35%. Rather than recommendations, what if analysts just published their target prices and a risk rating, leaving the investors to decide how much risk they are willing to incur in the pursuit of return? - Tad LaFountain
