DJ, well, at least there's general agreement on MU's "cost" per 64MB part:

Daiwa Research's Kanazawa estimates it costs Japanese
makers between $8.50 and $9 to make each 64-megabit DRAM chip,
compared to between $6.50 and $7 for Micron.
- Bloomberg 5/10/99

Shares of Micron Technology (MU: news, msgs), a major player in the DRAM business gained 5/8 to 39 1/16. Prudential Securities said in a weekly technology report that DRAM prices still are under pressure. The the cost per device is between $3.50 to $4, with potential to move lower between $2.50 to $3. Prudential also said the first-tier DRAM suppliers are profitable. - CBS Marketwatch 5/7/99

Good trading,

Tom

That still means they would have made a lot more money last quarter, but, in my opinon, it is closer to the actual cost than posts have indicated.
