About 100 years ago, a group of patriotic Chinese peasants called themselves "boxers", they think they can fended off foreign devils with their magic powers. We all know what happened.

I remember somewhere reading or viewing a interesting story. It seems that the Chinese boxers who possessed rifles were terrible shots. Or put differently, they were great shots but they were aiming at the wrong targets.

It seems that they believed their opponents spirit(or spirits of ancestors) were located above their physical bodies. So the Boxer riflemen would aim above the heads of their opponents in hopes of killing their spirits.

I think I saw it on some history channel program.. It was amazing how superstitious belief outweigh observable reality, namely a bunch of foreign troops aiming at mortal bodies and not the air.

Regards,

Ron
