Tinrod, thanks for that link, but it doesn't answer my question about the term fusing. I did find it interesting, however, to review that old IOF link at this time. Lots has happened since then, technologically and politically between the vendors cited. A lot of splash and speculation by CIEN and CSCO, particularly. I also found it interesting and noteworthy that the one major top tiered vendor, Nortel, about whose equipment I'm now questioning in the TGO release, is the only one of the majors who is not mentioned in the OIF release you pointed me to.
