SNRS is an extremely hard to borrow issue, therefore it just cannot be shorted by small investors. As far as buying it long, apparently your brokerage firm feels that when a stock is that difficult to borrow, there is a tremendous underlying risk in margining the stock. That may explain it.

Same here, sent them a letter they were losing customers
by not margining SNRS. I have become so used to Datek
not margining *anything* I leave a small amt. there and
trade at E*Trade........Skane
