Not for commercial use. <<< As a very Patriotic US citizen, there are some aspects of the alleged spying at Los Alamos that troubles me deeply. Wen Ho Lee is a scientist at Los Alamos National Labrotories with a U.S. citizenship (although born in Taiwan). He is entitled under the Constitution to face his accusers. If he is criminally guilty of intentionally providing serious scientific secrets to the Chinese government, then we should charge him with a crime and try him for treason. 1. My first question is, however, who are his accusers? Could you provide names, organizations, and specific charges? 2. What is the specific charge against him. (other than some generic statement that says he is a spy and should be hung). Specifically, what secrets did he pass to the Chinese Government, when did he do it, and how did he pass them? His lawyers have said that the speeches that he gave in China and Europe on the subject were cleared by the Laboratory. His lawyers have also said that his downloads of data from one computer to another were also legal and followed Laboratory procedures. If his lawyers are not telling the truth, then that could easily be proven in court. Further, even at a non secured computer site - you mean to tell me that the facility managers do not have the means to determine who is accessing which files for download and that there are no archives to show such activity? Especially, when as I have read in one newspaper account that some spying was done from chinese spys calling Los Alamos Collect. Finally, what is Wen Ho Lee's motive? Since he is Tiawanese and not Chinese, why would he give nuclear secrets to China who have had military conflicts with his homeland? Did he receive some compensation? If he did, what did he do with these compensations? How did he spend it - without anyone knowing about it? or is he hiding it in his house? Or, does Wen Ho Lee have some psycological problems and how does it manifest itself? The reason why I am asking these questions is that I suspect that there is a witch hunt going on and that a nerdy scientist may be unfairly the victim of this horrific witch hunt. I further believe that our Constitution, our sense of right and wrong, and belief in fair play may have been trampled on to satisfy some emotional pathology. Please do not respond with some generic statements that will muddy the waters further. Address only the "Wen Ho Lee" civil rights issue. Give me some particulars as to who,when, and where - and not some generic report without names and organizations and direct quotes attached to it. My objective here is to protect the US Constitution both to the letter and the spirit of it. Regards, Mary Cluney
