My feeling is that if the owners won't postpone the foreclosure - they are probably folks you don't want to buy a house from. Just a feeling.

I'm not Gaugie but I'll give you an opinion. No matter what you buy you will have problems and questions. Don't trust what the owner looks like, get someone who knows real estate to look at the property. A perfect paint job may mask a wet basement. <<If we wait for the foreclosure sale on the Yellow Brick Elephant, and don't get it, this place will be gone. Get two contractors who are not connected in anyway with the property to tell you what's wrong. A flooded basement ain't romantic as is peeling wall board. Paint, paper and yard don't seem to be a problem. Check out the structure. I almost bought a property that had 30 acres, 5 bedrooms and an in ground pool taht they spent $350 large on for $120 large. The cost for fixing it was $400 large. Not worth it. The structure was shit.

I like romance....the weirder the house the better. I spent 7 months looking for a house in Alameda Ca. with a friend...for him. I loved all the Victorians with odd basements or the Edwardians with the little cottage in the back. He like townhouses built last year. I am eccentric...no getting away from it. Good luck with your house hunt. Cheers Mel
