Dear Don;

You make a lot of interesting points to which am not ashamed to admit I do not have all of the answers. I will respect your decision to keep our dialogue public but I feel ill equipped to deal with some of what you say. For this reason our discussion will probably be limited compared to what we could do privately. Perhaps the Lord will help me to find a balance. You have at least given me many things to study further.

I do have one more question for you. In reading the Hebrew Scriptures I have noticed in Isaiah 44:6 the following;

Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God.

The Hebrew lexicon tells me that the term YHWH is applied to both the "Jehovah the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Jehovah of hosts;"

Here is a link to a web based lexicon:
khouse.org

Perhaps you could help me to understand who is Jehovah the King, the redeemer Jehovah of hosts and who is the "I am the first, and I am the last;" in this passage.

Thank you for your interesting discussion, we may disagree but I think you are an interesting and sincere man.

Don,

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deu: 6:4 I know that you are very familiar with quoting this passage but have you ever really studied it? I would suggest to you that the word "one" does not limit God to being just God the Father as Jehovah Witnesses . In Genesis 2:24 We read: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be "one" flesh. Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as "one" of us... Same word.. same root definition used in all three cases but we know for sure that a couple doesn't actually become one being, so why use the word so stringently when it comes to the nature or oneness of God?

As to the different councils, debates and arguments over the trinity I can just say I've read the bible through and through for myself and don't need any of their backing to support my beliefs. The Holy Spirit who convinced me that I'm a sinner and in need of a saviour also convinces me that there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit...three distinct persons yet one God. I don't understand it all but I do accept it by faith and I suspect that God wants us to live by faith or it never would have been written that the just shall live by faith..or that..without faith it is impossible to please God.
