OK - first off the V3 3000 looks _much_ better than the V2 in Q3Test. The difference is actually quite striking. Besides the "Voodoo grid" being gone (yea!), the textures look better even though they are medium rez. 16 bit ones. One very noticable problem is the polygonal edges to the explosion effects. I am told be a knowledgable source that this is a driver issue and should be fixed soon.

Performance:
I've done no overclocking yet. This is on a standard Dell P2400. Framerates at 800x600 framerates are well above 40 at all time, even in big firefights. 1024x768 saw some dips into the low 30s at times. 1280x1024(?) saw the average FPS in the low 30s with dips in the low teens, unplayable in my opinion. Looked GREAT though! ;-)

Bottom line - the V3 closes the visual quality gap significantly and gets you focused back on the key issue: performance.

Now, where's that overclocking utility...

Saw several SI people on my server tonight. Some 3Dfx employees too! Hard to chat with so much action going on. 209.20.177.59 - see ya there.
